Dubai World Island
The Dubai World Islands are a group of smaller islands, each named after a matching nation, that were intended to serve as a scale model of the entire world. The elite's insistence on getting a piece of the action when the Dubai World Islands were first revealed back in 2003 gave the impression that they would be the next big thing.
Project developments had to be halted in 2008 due to the financial crisis; nevertheless, since then, there have been varying stories on the project's resumption, although not much has materialised.
