About Sharjah Airport

Sharjah’s Al Mahratta runway was the site of the world’s first commercial airline landing in 1932. It took 45 years, but Sharjah finally got its airport. It hasn’t stopped growing since. Their rapid growth and development into a world-class, cutting-edge international airport can be attributed to the runway’s capacity to handle the finest aircraft in the world.

As a hub for a growing number of international and regional airlines, our open-sky policy facilitates unfettered access to the airport for passengers and crew members flying in from any part of the globe. Their4,060m Code F runway is the longest in the area, and its Cat II capabilities make it among the best in the world. No weather conditions will prevent any plane, even an A380, from landing or taking off with a full load.

International and domestic airlines alike find their landing and handling fees to be the lowest in the region.

The world’s largest airlines now use theirs as a major cargo centre. They are conveniently situated about 10 kilometres from the heart of Sharjah, a short 20-minute journey from Dubai, and close to all the other Northern Emirates.
